Photographic portrait of San Francisco firemen in front of the San Diego County Court House, September 11, 1894. A large group of firemen in their uniforms are organized into three distinct ranks, behind which a less organized group can be seen. To the left, early fire engines are visible parked in the street, while a small brass band comprised of firemen can be seen to the front right with horse-drawn carriages behind. In the background, a number of men in suits stand on the lawn of the three-story court house whose clock tower is adorned with a number of statues. A fountain is also visible on the lawn. Inscribed on the image, "Compliments of A. B. Carones to D. A. Moriarty, Chief L.A.F.D.".
