Description
Republican mural, New Lodge Road, New Lodge, Belfast, 1997. Mural commemorating various prison campaigns by the Republican movement through historical iconic images. Detail depicts a prisoner on the Blanket learning Irish by writing onthe wall of the prison cell: 'Tá mé, tá tú, tá sé ' (Iam you are he is); woman prisoner on her knees for strip seach. Three iconic posters from Republican campaigns: Margaret Thatcher, 'Wanted for Murder and torture of Irish Prisoners'; Pat McGeown, Hunger Striker, anti-plastic bullet image, 'Civil Order, Plastic Death'.
