Photograph caption dated December 17, 1959 reads "Sanford Massien, left, administrator of new Mid-Valley Community Hospital, 7533 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys, presents first aid kit for use at Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Park to George Hjelte, center, general manager of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department, and Vierling Kersey, president of Parks and Recreation Commission. Presentation was made at meeting of Van Nuys Chamber of Commerce board of directors, held at hospital, during which Kersey and Hjelte outlined parks plans for Van Nuys."
