Description
Photograph of a lithograph depicting Augustus Langenberger's house and business in Anaheim, ca.1880. The large brick house is at center. It has a massive chimney sticking up over the second-story roof at center. There is a large lawn around the house that is populated with an assortment of trees. A small shed is visible in the distance at left. A white picket fence separates the grounds of the house from a wooden sidewalk that runs parallel to a street in the foreground. Several pedestrians and horsemen are visible. An inset picture shows Langenberger's two-story store. It is rectangular in shape with a flat roof and it has a series of arched windows and doors around its perimeter. A horse-drawn wagon is parked in front. Legible signs include, from left to right, "A. Langenberger", "Groceries, Hardware, & Crockery", and "Wells Fargo & Co. Express". The photograph was taken from a book, Thompson & West 1880. It shows the residence of Augustus Langenberger in Anaheim, California, which at the time of the lithograph was in Los Angeles County. In the upper left corner is a picture of his business. He operated a Wells Fargo & Co Express at the same location. Augustus Langenberger's first wife , Petra, was the daughter of Juan Pacifico Ontiveros.
