Photograph dated March 17, 1964 shows a group of homeowners gathered at the corner of East Harvard Rd. and Sunset Canyon Drive in Burbank, as fire fighters get ready to battle against the Verdugo Hills fire that destroyed homes in Burbank and Glendale. In the foreground, furniture is placed out on the lawn, most likely salvaged from one of the affected homes. The article partially reads, "Gov. Edmund G. Brown today declared fire-ravaged sections of Burbank, Glendale and Eagle Rock a disaster area, paving the way for the federal government to issue a similar declaration to seek federal assistance if necessary...The first report came about 6 a.m. yesterday from the Whiting Woods district in Glendale, east of the Verdugo Hills.
