Description
Frank Cornes had one of four early grocery stores; it was at 501 S Myrtle. "Perhaps the largest retail business in Monrovia is done by Frank J.Cornes. Besides carrying a complete line of groceries, provisions and crockery, he also handles wood, coal, hay and grain, and has a large warehouse for the storage of his stock. His place of business is in the 8eecher block on Myrtle avenue, and we herewith present a view of the interior of his very neat and attractive store. Mr. Cornes came to Monrovia from the Black Hills, where he was for a number of years engaged in the drug business." Monrovia Messenger Souvenir Edition 1897.
