Description
Photograph of students on first Antelope Valley Union High School bus, which ran between Palmdale and Lancaster, ca.1909. The bus is an early-model truck shown in profile and facing to the right. There is a small engine compartment at right, and the back of the bus is covered by a long wooden roof. It has large tires, and a spare tire is slung under the back of the bus. Ten students, both boys and girls, are looking out of the open windows of the bus. The acronym "A.V.U.H.S." is painted on the side of the bus over the back tire. The words "High School Bus" are handwritten along the bottom of the image.
