Description
Two young girls hold up flags, one Greek (left) and one American (right) during a memorial service for George I, King of the Hellenes (December 24, 1845-March 18, 1913), held in a warehouse in Los Angeles serving as a church. Originally a Danish prince, George was only 17 years old when he was elected King by the Greek National Assembly, which had deposed the predecessor, King Otto. As the first monarch of the new Greek dynasty, George I reigned for 50 years, the longest in modern Greek history.
