This is a photograph of Fr. Donovan interacting with a small child and his family who are refugees. Fr. Reardon stands behind him. Born in Rhode Island, Fr. Donovan came to Maryknoll in 1928 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1934. He was assigned to Kaying, South China in 1938 and worked there for 10 years. In 1973 he was assigned to write a history of the China Wuchow mission and took up residence in Hong Kong. He remained there until his death. -- Born in Massachusetts, Fr. Reardon entered Maryknoll in 1926 and was ordained to the priesthood on June 14, 1938. His first assignment was to the Kaying Vicariate in South China. In 1941 he was interned by the Japanese in Hong Kong and the following year was repatriated to New York. He was assigned to Chile, but illness brought him back to the United States. He served as a chaplain and was assigned to various seminaries and novitiates in the United States.
