Description
Photograph of the Federal Building in the Downey block, at the junction of Temple Street and Main Street near Spring Street, 1887. The building stands about two-stories tall and is very wide. The second floor, clearly visible, has an arcade of windows. Two doors open on a balcony enclosed by a balustrade, overlooking the street. The balcony shades the sidewalk below. Horse-drawn carriages move up and down the street and are parked along the side of the Federal Building. A handful of pedestrians can be seen on and near the roadway. Tracks curve up the dirt roadway. There's a "County Bank" across the street from the Federal Building. Many other buildings are visible behind the Federal Building. Legible signs include: "Apothecaries Hall", "County Bank", "City of Paris".
