Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Title supplied by cataloger.; Image is a reproduction. Maria and Lorenzo in their grocery store on the corner of 3rd and Palos Verdes Streets in San Pedro, Los Angeles. Lorenzo and Maria immigrated to Los Angeles from Mombaruzzo, Asti, Piemonte, Italy in 1892 and 1896, respectively. They owned and operated the grocery store from 1910 to the late 1930's.
