Description
Photograph of people planting onions on the Petit Ranch, San Fernando Valley near Van Nuys, February 3, 1930. A group of people stand around the onion beds on a vast field, engaging in a variety of planting-oriented activities. Several boxes lie across the land, some filled and others not. Car-track markings line the ground at right, while a row of cylindrical structures sit on the rightmost corner of the road. In the distance, a line of bare trees can be seen. Two hundred acres were planted in onions. About 150 Mexicans did the planting.
