Description
1989-1179. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. B, leaf 46. Bird's eye view of 11th street, with sporadic cars traveling up and down street; at bottom center are two cars traveling on the street perpendicular to 11th and parallel to bottom of photo; three pedestrians can be seen crossing 11th street; on right hand side is a 10-storey building; behind it is a church with a dome and lantern (Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament); its facade towers can be seen from the side; across from the 10-storey building is a parking lot between buildings; four blocks up the photo are covered with buildings and beyond trees can be seen; palm trees are on both sides of 11th street in the foreground. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
