The Volunteers of America Home for Elderly Men and Women was located at 8155 Foothill Boulevard in Sunland.
Photograph caption dated December 12, 1950 reads, "A community recreational program for older persons is being started in the Sunland-Tujunga area. At dinner meeting at Volunteers of America Home are, from left, Rev. John Lane of First Baptist Church of Sunland; Mrs. Viola Lewis, 86, oldest member of church; Mrs. Estella Hall, 92, oldest resident of Home, and Mrs. Harriet Jack, superintendent of home. New program aims to introduce and provide interests for all older persons of the community."
