Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Weill Block in Bakersfield, ca.1900. The large brick building takes up an entire block. It is two-stories high and has large arch-shaped windows on the second floor. Cloth awnings protrude from the first floor, where many shops are visible. Two horse-drawn vehicles can be seen parked in front of the building at center. A wide dirt street runs across the image in the foreground and is divided by streetcar tracks. Legible signs include, from left: "Jewelry Co.", "Boston House", "General Merchandise", "Weill Block", A. Weill", "Philip W. Niederaur Furniture, Carpets, Linoleum, etc.", and "Undertaking Parlors".
