Description
Photograph of commercial buildings and facades along Colorado. Shops include: Pasadena Steam Laundry, T. C. Foster Books and Stationary, Wood & Banbury Building - Real Estate, and Steven's Hardware. The offices for Dr. Sherk and Dr. Fraser are located on the second floor. Curators card accompanying photo states the following: "The Fish block on 26 E. Colorado Street, YMCA headquarters in 1890. Built by Mr. Fish, it was the site of offices of two Iowans: Mr. Wood and Mr. Banbury (one of Pasadena's founders.)" This building covered 24-28 E. Colorado. Built in 1887 by Milford Fish (original owner of lots). Almost entirely rebuilt in poured concrete in 1929. Front: Photo shows a series of connected buildings with signs such as "Pasadena Steam Laundry," "Holiday Goods," "Wood & Banbury Real Estate." A horse-drawn carriage with passengers is parked in the foreground of the photo. Back: Written in ink: "Pasadena California Friday Dec. 14.88." Also written in ink at a later date: "Clem Inskeep has negative on this #29 5/1/61."
