Photograph caption dated May 14, 1964 reads, "Young prospectors revive memories of Don Francisco Lopez, first in California to discover gold, who will be feted at Placerita Festival, May 17. A gold sluice stands behind children, where Southlanders will be able to pan for keepsakes. Festival will be held at Placerita State and County Park, Newhall."
