Redwood second growth. About 20 years old. Dense growth. 100 yards below Pepperwood Auto Camp, Pepperwood, Humboldt County, California. Undoubtedly of seedling origin. Ground was originally supporting a growth of hardwoods-pepperwood, etc., later cleared for farming. A fire in early history of this grove evidently killed back the seedlings and caused the small stumps to sprout. See also #4818. E. Fritz, June 1929
