Description
Taken around 1955, this aerial view shows the Town and Country Shopping Center at the northeast corner of Fulton and Marconi Avenues.
Construction on this shopping center began in 1945 and it opened in 1946 under the ownership of Sacramento developer Jere Strizek. Strizek intended the Town and Country Village Shops to be evocative of a fantasy of early California through the use of motifs associated with mission and "pioneer" imagery.
