Description
Naj' Ḥammādī itself is on the left bank, on the sout-west side of the large bend of the Nile River. Al-Qaṣr (Chenoboskeia) is on the right bank, half-way down the large bend. Just north of al-Qaṣr, the light area indicates the arid, slightly elevated area where the Monastery of St. George is located on the eastern edge near the Nile, and al-Raḥmānīyah Qiblī on the western edge. Still further north, just west of the island, is the al-Dābbah train station, the earliest designation by Abbot Drioton of the site of the discovery. Al-Būṣah is due north, up against the foot of the cliff, just before the cliff turns due north. Just further north, where the face of the cliff moves due north, is the location of the Sixty Dynasty caves and the site discovery. Slightly to the east of this north-side area is the village of Ḥamrah Dūm. On the right of the plate there is the Jabal Abū Mana', and at the foot of the cliff the hamlet Abū Mana'. Due south, on the right shore of the Nile, is Fāw Qiblī, with the Basilica of St. Pachomius.
