Ernest Jennings Ford was born on February 13, 1919. He was best known as Tennessee Ernie Ford, an American recording artist and television host who enjoyed success in the country and Western, pop, and gospel musical genres. Ford was also a comic actor and hosted several television shows. He died on October 17, 1991. Photograph caption dated May 13, 1957 reads "Visiting Valley's Tennessee Ernie Ford backstage during rehearsal of his NBC-TV program, these youngsters from Sun Valley Junior High School received not only suggestions on how they might win a swimming pool, but also had peas autographed by famed singer-comedian. Author and KABC-Radio deejay Fred Beck has been leading Valley Youth Foundation youngsters to see Hollywood stars on behalf of the contest. The Valley youths are, from left, Pam House, Richard Helmer, Billie Bobb, Dale Miller, Diana Helmer and Nancy Hard."
