Description
“City lake at Odeypur [Udaipur].” View from palace of lake with hills in background. The city of Udaipur and hills are visible in the background. Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II as the fourth capital of the Mewar kingdom. It lies in a valley beside three artificial lakes. Lake Pichola, the largest, is pictured here. The massive palace complex was started around 1559, with construction lasting over 200 years. This view is looking south. ❧ Views of Rajputana by Lala Deen Diyal.
