Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated January 11, 1961 reads "Pat Murphy, left, co-chairman of Los Angeles Printing Week committee, congratulates Raymond A. Garcia, a Valley Times TODAY employe (sic) for 24 years, on the merit award just presented him in honor of International Printing Week Jan. 15-21. Holding the commemorative scroll is Printing Week Queen Caroline Di Fruscia. Garcia, 11141 Saticoy St., Sun Valley, is the Valley Times TODAY's senior printer and was a violin maker before turning to printing. He entered the newspaper business at a now-defunct Valley semi-weekly, the Sun-Record, along with actor Alan Ladd, a fellow North Hollywood High School student who worked in the Sun-Record's circulation department. Garcia, who spent six years as an apprentice before becoming an accredited printer, now does such tasks as headline setting or page composition."
