Large stump on Victor Reback's poultry ranch on Holmes Flat, Humboldt County (Holmes Post Office) California. See record of growth on strip. Cut spring of 1909. Over 1300 years old. Stump showed no signs of fire scars until about the year 1750. Sapwood burned off in land clearing fires. Made 15 cars of lumber, 300 feet of its length was used for logs. Diameter inside the sapwood over 16". E. F. July 25, 1932
