Title supplied by cataloger. In 1960, the North Hollywood YMCA became the East Valley YMCA. Photograph caption dated January 7, 1960 reads, "Andy Achterkirchen, 17, right, named 1960 Valley Hi-Y Boy of the Year, is congratulated by Gladstone Phillips, representing Andy's sponsor, North Hollywood Rotary. Andy will compete in city finals Jan. 20". The award was made to the YMCA high school youth with the best active participation in YMCA activities, leadership, outstanding school event participation and scholarship. Andy Achterkirchen, a student of North Hollywood High School, represented the Athenians Hi-Y Club of the North Hollywood area YMCA.
