Henry T. Hazard, born in Evanston, Ill., 1844. Crossed the plains to California in 1852, and with his parents settled in Los Angeles. He began his business life by driving a team from Los Angeles to San Pedro at 13 years of age. He attended school from '60 to '64 and studied law in the office of Gen. Volney E. Howard. Then drove a team to Arizona, and after saving enough, went to the University of Michigan and graduated with the law class of 1868. He served as Mayor of Los Angeles from 1889-1892; owned the old Hazard's Pavilion, where the Temple Auditorium is now.
