Description
Photograph of a chariot race at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses celebration, 1911. There are two chariots at center, racing towards the camera. Each chariot is being pulled by a team of four dark horses and driven by a single driver. There are two observation towers behind the chariots at center. The tower at right is taller, has a roof over the open platform and a flag is flying from a pole on the roof. The shorter tower is a raised wooden platform at left and there are several people standing on it. A large crowd has gathered on both sides of the race track, including many people seated in the bleachers at left. There are tall mountains in the background at right.
