Description
1989-1295. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 39. Side view of a large tomb stone; a bottom pedestal has a small bronze plaque; on top of this pedestal is a blocky perpendicular block with a relief bronze profile portrait; to the left see part of a building in the background; a row of leafless trees on the right with other grave markers on ground; on left is more foliage. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "son of Alexander Hamilton. Born.August 4th, 1797, Died August 7th, 1850. Wm. Stephen Hamilton's identity was not known when he died, he was removed from Potters Field and buried here later ... Monument erected by the daughters of the American Revolution."
