Photograph caption dated October 30, 1954 reads, "Incomparable Vampira gets ready for Halloween tonight in company with skeleton and a sadfaced pumpkin. The glamour ghoul will stage a 'Spooktacular' tonight, Saturday, on Channel 7 at 11 by showing the movie 'King of the Zombies.'" Maila Nurmi, in her guise as Vampira, was Channel 7's late-night sensation from 1954 until it was cancelled in 1955. During her heyday she appeared in Newsweek, Life, guested on various prime time shows and even was nominated for an Emmy Award.
