Description
A woman in morning dress. She sits looking down, wearing a straw hat with a cream bow. A bit of lace is visible underneath the hat and there is a white ribbon tied under her chin. Her dress has a high lace collar and she wears a necklace bearing a cross pendant. Her dress is white, full length, and has long sleeves. The top of her sleeves are gathered to create a pouf and her cuffs are edged in triangles like her collar. She wears a forest green Spencer or pelisse coat over the white dress, which covers her bodice and is fastened with four buttons. The back drapes down to the floor. The bottom of her white dress is trimmed in twisted white cord. Her shoes are green and flat. She also wears cream gloves. There are two books on the bench by her side, most likely Bibles or hymnals. She sits in a pew and there is a man standing on a pulpit in the background.
