“The fellowship at the Alliance High School, May 1949.” Group portrait of revival brethren at Kikuyu. The Revival Movement had started in Ruanda [Rwanda] and spread across East Africa. Dr Irvine supported the Revival brethren and fellowship meetings were held one or twice a month in most out-schools. The mission at Kikuyu was less enthusiastic about the revival movement until its acceptance there in 1949. ❧ The image is from the collection of Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) showing the period from 1947-1961 at the Chogoria mission which was established near Mt Kenya, in 1922, and run by Dr Irvine.
