Artist and muralist Kent Twitchell painted the 30'h x 22'w acrylic mural in 1974. The image of the woman with a granny-squared afghan wrapped around her is actually that of Lillian Bronson, a character actress who resembled Twitchell's great grandmother. In 1978 the erection of a one-story building obscured the bottom half of the mural. In 1986, the visible upper portion of the mural was painted over in order to sell advertising space; the artist was not informed of such action. As of September 1996, a portion of the mural has been painstakingly restored.
