Description
The Long Beach Naval Station and Naval Shipyard played a critical role in the history and development of Long Beach, California. To commemorate these bases, a video legacy has been produced which takes viewers through the earliest beginnings of the base and shipyard in the 1930s through to their closing in the 1990s. "A Tale of Two Bases" features vintage war footage from World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, and Desert Storm. Hundreds of photographs were culled from collections throughout the country to tell the story of the naval base and shipyard. Some who witnesses this history were officers, enlisted men, female personnel, shipyard workers, and civilian employees.
Additional Descriptive Notes: This video was made possible with the combined efforts of numerous historical resources and the generosity and enthusiasm of countless Long Beach residents.
