Photograph caption dated May 2, 1962 reads, "Twelve and and one-half miles of Ventura Blvd., from Laurel Canyon Blvd. to Fallbrook Ave. will remain open till 9:00 pm under a new 'shopping night' plan sponsored by the Ventura Blvd. Merchants Association. Special sales will be featured." This shows Ventura Boulevard, looking west from just east of Vantage Avenue (center). Some of the businesses seen include, from left to right, Victor's Toys, Studio City Camera Exchange, a Glendale Federal Savings and Loan branch, a Florsheim store, and a Newberry's.
