Tinted lantern slide featuring a peasant woman holding the wooden handle attached to a stone corn grinding wheel. The outer walls of a courtyard can be seen in the background. These walls are pasted with several identical prints, possibly portraying an urn, and the arch into the courtyard is framed with red character 'spring couplet' strips, pasted on during each Spring Festival. The courtyard wall also features a large mural. The slide was developed by the Photo Department, Tientsin Hui Wen Academy, Tientsin, China. This slide comes from a collection held by the Church of Scotland and generated by the medical missionary Charles Somerville, who worked for the London Missionary Society in Hankou from 1904 to 1914.
