Typed on back: "Caption for picture of Mayor receiving Chinese party at City Hall to be delivered by Schreiner. Mayor Rossi received the tanks of the committee of Chinese for his proclamation designating this week May 12th to May 18 officially 'China Week'. It marks the 150 anniversary of the opening of trade between United States and China with the return of the clipper ship 'Empress of China' on May 23th 1785. In the party are Mayor Rossi, Acting Consul General Y. T. Hsuing, H. Q. H. Lee secretary of the Chinese Six Companies G. B. Lau, Manager of Canton Bank B. S. Fong, manager of Ye On Company Rene May, president of Getz Bros Company, W. B. Montgomery, manager of Foreign Trade department Chamber of Commerce James King Steele, Kong Pay, Harry S. Wong, N. D. Foo, Ow Wing Fook, William Young, Albert Jue Lew, Lee Quan, and troop of Chinese Boy Scouts.
