The school was founded by Edward Heald in San Francisco, California, in 1863. By the early twentieth-century, Heald Colleges had expanded to over twelve locations, mostly in California. Throughout its history, the college offered vocational programs in business, mining, and engineering. The Sacramento campus opened in 1914. At the time this catalog was published, the Sacramento campus was located at Ninth and J Streets.
