Photograph caption dated June 28, 1955 reads "Eddie Benson, one of the greatest gymnasts ever produced in the Valley, leaves tonight for the national championships in Milwaukee, Wis., where he will represent the Los Angeles Turners. The former North Hollywood High School star is expected to be a contender for the all-around championship and is well liked in the rings, where he is among the best. Observers rate the team of Benson, Charles Simms, Jack Beckner, Bill Tom, Harvey Donals and Warren Lemen, coached by Erwin Volze, a favorite to win the national team title."
