Description
Between 1954 and 1990, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul leased several different grounds for its boys summer camp program. St. Vincent de Paul Ranch Camp was located in the Santa Susana Mountains in Granada Hills until it was destroyed by fire. In 1990, the Society purchased Circle V Camp near Santa Barbara for co-ed summer camps.
Photograph caption dated August 17, 1959 reads, "Eric Tracy, 9, of North Hollywood's St. Patrick parish of St. Vincent de Paul Society, shows off 1-week-old Judy, literal example that society will 'take any kid to camp.' Animal, which is pet of society's boys camp, was given by J. Paul Russell of board of directors. Society is now conducting annual appeal to support camp."
