Description
From photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on October 12, 1970: "Lake Tahoe is one of the last places one might expect to find smog, but occasionally demon inversion strikes even there, allowing smoke and other haze to collect in the basin. The photos were taken by Bee staffer John W. Murphy. They look north from the lake's south shore. Mountains across the lake are readily visible in the top photo (photo 7911), which was taken on a clear day." (The subject photo is the "after" photo which was printed below photo 7911.)
