Description
"3054. La Plaza, Los Angeles," by Payne, Stanton & Co., stereoview, circa 1882. The view is from Poundcake Hill looking east with the Plaza at left of center ringed by trees and containing walks. In the foreground are some homes, the Plaza Church, and the former gas works location. To the right is a portion of the Pico House hotel. Behind the Plaza and to the left are Spanish and Mexican-era adobe homes, while in the distance is the area around the Los Angeles River and Boyle Heights. While the matte has soiling, stains, damaged corners and the like, the image is clean and the overall condition is good.
