Bill O'Brien started his small business making wooden toys for pets in 1951 after retiring from steel industry and relocating to California from Massachusetts. Delrego Products Co. employeed four workers besides O'Brien.
Photograph caption dated September 2, 1959 reads, "Dog's Best Friend. Bill O'Brien doesn't have fire plug contract with fire department, but instead builds bright red, gold chain-trimmed hydrants for dogs."
