Description
Rather than rebuild on the site of the old Station No. 1 following earthquake, Long Beach bought existing building and adapted it to firehouse use. Building was Donner's Bakery & Cafe on the lower floor, and a sign at top of building showed its use as the Knights of Pythias Hall. Station located at 3rd Street and Pacific Avenue. Photo shows Lee & Lee Herb Shop (left) and Wide Awake Cleaners (right), as well as other cafes on the block.
