Description
Photograph of aviator William Atwater in the air at the Dominguez Hills Air Meet, 1912. Atwater's Curtiss biplane is at center and is flying towards the camera while banking to the right. It has two broad sets of canvas wings with a small control surface between the wings on each side. The Curtiss planes were unique in having tricycle landing gear, and this feature is visible under the plane. Two other biplanes are following Atwater's in the distance.
