Description
Annotation translation: "a) Dajak woman whose teeth have been filed. There are two ways of filing the teeth - vertically, as here, or horizontal, in which case either the tips of the teeth are filed right off or a groove is created. The groove is died black with plant juice." Annotation: "a) Dajakin mit gefeilten Zähnen. Es gibt zwei Sorten: senkrecht, wie hier, & waagrecht, entweder Spitze ganz abgefeilt, oder nur Querfurche. Die Furche wird mit Pflanzensaft schwarz gefärbt." Stamped: "Museum der Basler Mission Basel, Missionsstrasse 21."
