Description
Mark Lapin discusses his book, “Pledge of Allegiance.” He begins by discussing the plot of the book which follows the main character Josh, who is a nine-year-old living in New York in the 1950s and whose father is in a member of the Communist underground. During the course of the novel Josh struggles with his loyalties as he is ostracized in school and approached by the FBI who try to glean information concerning his father's whereabouts and other Communist party members. Lapin later explains that the book is loosely autobiographical and that growing up his own father was also a member of the Communist underground. Lapin also discusses how he wrote the book and what he is planning to write next.
