Photograph caption dated October 17, 1963 reads, "Without formal dedication ceremonies, the Sherman Way underpass between Lankershim Blvd. and Laurel Canyon Blvd. was hardly used the first evening of operation. Formal dedication ceremonies had been held in July but because of further work, the opening was delayed until Tuesday."
