Photograph was edited for publication purposes Lee Aubrey Riggs was born in 1907. Starting out as a tobacco auctioneer, he gained his nickname by training himself to speak 469 words per minute, a world record at the time. For more than thirty years he appeared on the radio show "Your Lucky Strike Hit Parade" for the American Tobacco Company as the voice of Lucky Strike cigarettes. He died in 1987.
