Description
The photograph was taken in front of Police Department at Manzanar camp with a car parked in front, license plate M115. A number of people are gathered around each side of the vehicle as it gets ready to depart Manzanar incarceration camp en route to Reno, Nevada. Caption reads: Departure by WRA Escort in Station Wagon en route to Reno. Title from caption, which was taken from the original photo album.
The collection was donated by Ralph "Pete" Merritt, Jr. and Patricia Merritt. It is comprised of photographs from an album created by L. Josephine Hawes, the Chief Nurse at the Manzanar Hospital, and individual photographs collected by Ralph P. Merritt, the Project Director of the Manzanar War Relocation Center.
