Description: Marksmanship Medal won by "Alviso Rifles" for service in 1864 and 1865. The award was presented to their Captain, W. A. B. Edwards, when the company was mustered out of service. The engraving on the front reads "5th Regiment Infantry C.M., Target Medal." The reverse side reads, "Awarded Co. C Alviso Rifles, Oct. 18, 1864, scoring 600 points. Also, Nov 13, 1865, scoring 700 points. Presented by the Co. to Captain W.A.B. Edwards, Dec 25th 1886."
